Partnership will see NGC Systems as the first Malaysian applications solutions provider to offer next-generation network solutions through NGC Genico™

PETALING JAYA, 14 Jan 2004 – NGC Systems Sdn Bhd, a company specializing in the development of Next-Generation Network (NGN) solutions and mobile carrier services, has joined Hewlett Packard’s (HP) Asia Pacific partner for its OpenCall Service Controller, Media Platform, the first for a Malaysian company in the packetised-data space in this region.

“We are confident that with this partnership, we will be able to better address the regional market for packet-based services. HP has proven capabilities with its #1 position in voice service delivery platform,” said Dato’ Goh Kian Seng, Managing Director of NGC Systems.

HP OpenCall is the first SS7 computing platform for:
. the first short messaging platform
. the first for mobile Intelligent Network prepaid
. the first SCP supporting 8M subscribers per single provisioning point
. the first carrier-grade VoIP gatekeeper
. the first media platform with 2000 voice channels per computer

NGC Systems’ selection is the result of its extensive experience and indepth knowledge of communication technology. As DVM Technology Berhad’s research and development arm today, NGC Systems continues to forge the group’s relationship with HP, through the continued development of NGN solutions and packet-based services for both the domestic and regional markets.

Leveraging on the rapid development and uptake of Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) services, a subset of the nascent technologies that make up what is today collectively referred to as packet-based services and networks, NGC Systems is today the first applications solutions provider to offer a solution of convergence combining voice, data and multimedia, which will be marketed under the brand Genico™.

NGC’s Genico™ suite of solutions offers businesses a tool that converges data, voice and multimedia within a modular, low-maintenance, easy-to-use, and resourceful, fully transparent infrastructure. It offers mobile operators, fixed-line or IP-based service providers and large enterprises an unparalleled edge in diversifying their core business to meet the rapidly changing demands of their customers.

Genico™ applications are built on an open communication application architecture, which offers rapid deployment opportunities and modular flexibility. Genico™ applications are specifically engineered to shorten the time gap between new service deployments, lower critical investment costs and resources required to proactively roll out new services.

“Our aim in developing Genico™ is to allow users in the telecommunications industry as well as service providers a never-before seen flexibility,” said Dato’ Goh.

“Genico™ is truly a sophisticated and powerful technology, which will be export-oriented. We believe our focus offers enormous revenue generation potential from commercialising our R&D results, and that this is one of many signs which reflects our country’s progress, moving from the shadows of being a nation of mere technology users into the limelight of becoming a nation, capable of technological marvel and innovation,” he added.

“Genico™ is hence built on a scalable, distributed architecture, and thanks to HP, Genico™ today has the benefit of a highly reliable platform,” said Dato’ Goh.
