Excitement about GLC
2.0, an advanced SIP client
During the four-day technology fair, NGC Systems
will highlight a Session Initiated Protocol
(SIP) front-end client, Genico™ LiveContact
2.0 (GLC), which was recently launched at CeBIT
Asia 2005 in Shanghai, China.
“Telecommunication operators and service
providers can deploy IP converged services in
the back-end and mate its functionalities with
GLC. Their subscribers will appreciate fine
Live Contact 2.0’s design and user-intuitive
features. Furthermore, GLC can be installed
and used by their subscribers with Personal
Digital Assistant or 3G devices,” said
Chen, adding using GLC will shorten telecommunication
operators and service providers’ time-to-market
new IP-based services.
GLC 2.0 can be used on Microsoft Windows XP
desktop PCs, mobile notebooks; current generation
of smartphones and Wi-fi enabled Personal Digital
Assistants (PDAs). Telecommunication operators
and service providers can cross sell their IP
services as their subscribers can use GLC 2.0
to communicate using a variety of devices, communication
platform and infrastructure.
“GLC is available for Original Equipment
Manufacturer or OEM and we intend to seek such
partnerships during CISIS 2005.” GLC 2.0
is the latest addition to NGC Systems’
Genico™ suite of communication technology
for fixed or mobile telecommunication operators,
data communication service providers and consumer
communication electronic manufacturers.
Several new features set GLC 2.0 apart as a
complete, end-to-end communication productivity
application. “It has a very sophisticated
and robust engine,” said NGC Systems spokesperson,
chief technology officer Owen Chen. “Telecommunication
and service providers can attract and keep subscribers
as GLC offers more than just voice. It has video
and data too. Subscribers can use GLC to share
and communicate ideas using a virtual whiteboard,
transfer corporate documents, spreadsheets or
any digital files, automate functions like voice
mail-to-email, call transfer, auto answering,
auto redial and more - all within the convenience
of a single interface.” Subscribers can
make on-network voice calls to another GLC subscriber
within the network and off-network voice calls,
to Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)
or General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) mobile
devices. “GLC has been enhanced with network
address translation (NAT) technology and presence
management services.” Subscribers can
also send and receive Short Messaging System
(SMS) text from a mobile phone user. “GLC
2.0 users can read SMS messages when online
or have it forwarded to their mobile phone when
offline,” explained Chen.
