DVM Technology in RM4M projects
New
successes contribute towards realizing DVM Technology’s
international expansion plan
Back
January
13, 2006, Kuala Lumpur – DVM
Technology Bhd will earn more than RM4 million
from regional projects as part of its export
revenue for Genico™, its class of broadband
telephony and Internet Protocol (IP) mobile
solutions.
“The growth in 3G and
IP broadband communications in the region has
fueled higher demand for Genico™,”
said DVM Technology executive director Chen
Chee Peng. The projects are currently in its
final stages of completion and destined for
customers in four countries; mobile telecommunication
operators in Pakistan and Singapore, a public
listed company in Thailand and a Government
agency in Brunei. Identities of these customers
have been withheld due to prior privacy agreements.
According to Chen, these projects
are positive signs of DVM Technology’s
progress in its international expansion plans
this year. “We’re aiming for market
success with Genico™ in seven additional
countries this year,” he said. Genico™
is a new breed of Internet Protocol (IP)-based
broadband telephony and mobile communication
technology for telecommunication operators,
mobile carriers and large enterprises.
“DVM Technology’s
immediate and long term future is bright,”
said Chen, adding branding activities will be
intensified. “We’ve working to ensure
a visible market presence in the region.”
This is crucial, Chen explained, as DVM Technology
face competitors with deeper marketing pockets.
“It’s takes resources to grow Genico™,
a Malaysian brand, as Malaysia is known as technology
importers not exporters. We need to change this
mindset,” he said adding DVM Technology
has sought help from Malaysia External Trade
Development Corporation (MATRADE).
A winning differentiator is
that Genico™ offers a complete range of
IP-based broadband and mobile communication
technology whereas its competitors only focus
in smaller areas. Another differentiator is
that Genico™ has solved a major thorn
in IP broadband telephony which is Network Address
Translation (NAT) which prevents access to IP
broadband telephony on a corporate network protected
by a firewall. “This means any telco can
offer Genico™-powered services to their
subscribers without compromising their security
or fear access denial.”
DVM Technology has also been
acknowledged as an early pioneer in developing
IP-based broadband telephony and mobile communication
technology, with its research and development
arm, NGC Systems Sdn Bhd. This research area
leverages on telco’s rising use of IP-based
communication technology as its premier delivery
system for telecommunication services. Market
researchers Frost and Sullivan said Asia’s
telco investments in IP-based communication
technology were expected to exceed US$10 billion
last year.
The IP-PBX market is also
forecasted to experience a high rate of compound
annual growth of 65 per cent to reach US$1.67
billion by 2008 as enterprises transfer from
circuit-based systems to packet-switched systems
like Genico™ Broadband Telephony, Genico™
MConferencing, Genico™ IPCentrex and Genico™
LiveContact.
“In the next two years,
we expect either more enterprises to invest
in broadband telephony communications or more
telcos to provide a variety of broadband telephony
services to their enterprise subscribers.”
Research in this area by Frost and Sullivan
forecasted IP phones to be a standard feature
in enterprise desktops in Hong Kong, Taiwan
and South Korea by 2010.
