3 May 2006, Kuala Lumpur – DVM Technology Bhd and HP has agreed to a marketing and technology partnership focusing on 3G Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solutions for worldwide 3G service providers, mobile carriers, telecommunication and broadcast operators.
In this partnership, DVM Technology, through its research and development arm NGC Systems Sdn Bhd, will develop and roll-out Genico™ branded 3G IMS solutions which leverage on HP’s OpenCall Media Platform (OCMP) Video Server technology.
In return, HP will test and certify Genico™ 3G IMS solutions to be fully compliant with 3G IMS world standards. HP will also market Genico™ 3G IMS solutions to the global telecommunication and broadcast industries.
Both parties inked a marketing and technology partnership in Kuala Lumpur to formalize this synergy. DVM Technology was represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Chen Chee Peng and NGC Systems’ President, Mr. Owen Chen Chee Onn. Meanwhile, HP was represented by Mr. Laurent Valluy, Director, Asia-Pacific & Japan Regional Operations, HP OpenCall Business Unit and Country Business Manager, Software Global Business Unit, Ms. Tan Li Chin.
FIRST APPOINTMENT IN ASIA
In addition, NGC Systems has been appointed as the first 3G IMS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partner under HP’s Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) IMS Partner Enablement Program (PEP).
“HP is proud to welcome NGC Systems as our first member in the IMS PEP in Asia. The IMS PEP is an expansion of the existing broad and deep HP OpenCall partner program which currently has approximately 30 partners in Asia-Pacific & Japan,” said Valluy.
As a member of the program, NGC Systems will have the opportunity to showcase Genico™ 3G IMS solutions at the HP OpenCall Experience Center in Shanghai, China,” said Chen.
The HP OpenCall Experience Center is designed to help operators develop a smooth, evolutionary path from existing networks to an all IP-based IMS network. At this facility, HP provides operators a comprehensive, hands-on environment for IMS solution testing, proof of concept, and customer pilots, as well as business and market analysis for IMS services. Operators can learn how to reduce the complexity of IMS services interaction, simplify network and services management, and ultimately, reduce costs and accelerate time to market.
In addition to HP OpenCall software and demonstration services, the HP OpenCall Experience Center also makes available to operators, through the HP-Intel Solution Centres, IMS network elements and demonstration services from HP partners; HP and partner operation and business support system (OSS and BSS) solutions; and HP and HP partner consumer products such as handsets, PDAs, wireless notebooks, and PCs.
LAUNCH OF Genico™ 3G Pocketsports IN MALAYSIA
Genico™ 3G Pocketsports, which was launched in Kuala Lumpur today, will be the latest solution to be showcased at the HP OpenCall Experience Center this month. Genico™ 3G Pocketsports is the first 3G IMS sports video solution in Asia capable of utilizing HP OpenCall Media Platform (OCMP) Video Server technology.
“We’re excited with the launch of Genico™ 3G Pocketsports in Malaysia today. This is another milestone for us,” said DVM Technology’s Chen, adding that market prospects for the solution is bright as 3G service providers continue to seek solutions that will help them increase their range of 3G services and content.
“There’s a growing momentum to encourage mass 3G adoption. Furthermore, the interest in sports, ranging from football, golf to adventure racing, is high. As such, Genico™ 3G Pocketsports will help 3G service providers create, manage and distribute varying 3G broadcasts of mobile sports content,” said Chen noting that Genico™ 3G Pocketsports’s features lives up to its tagline of “Living the passion, Carry the action”.
“3G subscribers expect personalized sports content. Telcos using Genico™ 3G Pocketsports can exceed their subscribers’ expectation level,” said Chen. “Merely providing sports content is inadequate and of little value to 3G subscribers. We feel 3G service providers must look into this aspect when profiling 3G subscribers for their services,” he said.
Apart from subscriber personalization capabilities, Genico™ 3G Pocketsports manages a real-time rating system. It keeps count of “most viewed” and “most requested” mobile sports video. Subscribers can also access an online storage system and use group conferencing features, which are unavailable in other 3G mobile sports video solutions. The combination of these features increase 3G airtime usage and allow 3G service providers to offer varying 3G subscription packages with mass market appeal.
Genico™ 3G Pocketsports CATERS TO SPORTS PSYCHE
Genico™ 3G Pocketsports is a new breed of 3G IMS mobile sports video solution that specifically caters to sport fans’ psyche. In addition, it enables telcos to create broadcast and video content suitable for 3G deliveries in a rapid, low-cost and convenient manner. Genico™ 3G Pocketsports offers a degree of automation that simplifies a previously complex process of mobile video creation, indexing, management and distribution.
This drastically slashes the time and resources needed to create, maintain and index 3G IMS mobile sports video content. This is critical in ensuring that a variety of 3G content is available, appeals to subscribers and aligned with efforts to promote 3G usages.
“Another important distinction is that GenicoTM 3G Pocketsports can be used to stream broadcasts to subscribers who are using video IP phones on notebooks, PCs and handsets. This adds to 3G services’ mass market appeal,” said Chen.
Genico™ 3G Pocketsports features include MatchTalk which allows a subscriber to share a mobile sports broadcast with other subscribers and engage in multiparty-conferencing call, LockerRoom which allows a subscribers to bookmark and retrieve favorite sports video and an automated rating system which displays most popular sports video highlights viewed by subscribers. Subscribers can easily change their preferences by accessing a Genico™ 3G Pocketsports - powered Web and Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) portal, both linked to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.
