16, 2007, Singapore – NGC Systems Sdn Bhd, a 3G mobile application and broadband telephony solution developer, scored top honor for its advanced 3G video streaming application, Genico® 3G Pocketsports, at the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
Genico® 3G Pocketsports was recognized as the 2007 Most Promising Innovative Application/Product of the Year in Asia Pacific. NGC Systems president Owen Chen Chee Onn received the honor at the awards banquet held in Singapore yesterday evening.
According to Frost & Sullivan’s director of telecoms, Sin Siew Teyew, Genico® 3G Pocketsports’ winning attributes are its ability to harness a simplified user interface to deliver an innovative 3G video streaming solution, rich in media and unique in experience. “From our analysis, outstanding mobile applications like Genico® 3G Pocketsports are successful because it offers a rich user experience and compelling service. It’s also operator-friendly as it’s easy to implement and deploy,” he said. “We congratulate NGC Systems and its Genico® 3G Pocketsports development team for this achievement.”
He added sports is a very popular mobile theme and Genico® 3G Pocketsports has arrived at the right time when mobile telecommunication operators are now seeking applications which can effectively increase 3G adoption rate with their subscribers. “As Asia Pacific’s Most Promising Innovative Application of the Year, Genico® 3G Pocketsports sets a high standard and represents an exciting example of mobile applications that 3G mobile subscribers can expect,” he said.
This acknowledgement speaks highly of NGC Systems’ mobile application development ability. “We’re deeply humbled and thank the panel of judges for this top honor,” said NGC Systems’ president Owen Chen. “This validates our customers’ trust in us and our efforts in crafting 3G mobile applications that is in tune with the psyche and demands of mobile subscribers.” This award is Genico® 3G Pocketsports’ second after it also earned the Most Innovative Application/Product of the Year award at the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Telecoms Awards three weeks ago in Kuala Lumpur.
Chen also credited NGC Systems’ Genico® 3G Pocketsports’ development team for `staying the course’ and having strong beliefs that defined Genico® 3G Pocketsports. “It has been challenging and our journey has barely begun,” he said, alluding to NGC Systems’ European expansion plans later this year.
Genico® 3G Pocketsports is an intelligent circuit-based 3G video streaming application intended for service providers like telecommunication service providers, mobile carriers, broadcasters and large enterprises.
With Genico® 3G Pocketsports, these service providers can create, manage and deliver sports-centric video channel as part of their 3G offerings to subscribers either on a live i.e. push-basis or delayed i.e. pull-basis, in a cost-effective, easy-to-operate and quick-to-deploy manner. It operates on HP OpenCall carrier-grade platforms which enable the delivery of content-rich multimedia, user-centric and advanced personalized features like ‘Match Talk’ and ‘Locker Room’. These features allow 3G subscribers to share in real-time their favorite sports video with friends and family while viewing a match. Subscribers can also store and share or distribute sports video clips among selected recipients.
“Mobile video content based services are complex. This complexity level rises when it’s real-time but our research has paid off. With Genico® 3G Pocketsports, we’ve simplified the process by adding intelligent processes. The outcome is a mobile 3G video sports service that is easily accessible and user-friendly,” said Chen.
In addition, subscribers of mobile sports-channels powered by Genico® 3G Pocketsports can easily configure their preferences merely by using dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) keypads on their handsets. “Genico® 3G Pocketsports is handset independent. This means it can function on all 3G handsets in the market today,” Chen added.
